Robert Reynolds Obituary

Robert Reynolds, age 61, of Carbonear, NL, passed away suddenly yet peacefully in January 2026 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, surrounded by family.

Born in Carbonear, Robert began his military career with the Canadian Armed Forces in Gagetown, where he met his wife, Deb. Together, they built a life that took them across the country, living in New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Ontario, and Alberta while raising their three children. Later in life, Robert returned east to be closer to family.

Known as the life of the party, Robert had a natural ability to light up even the dimmest room. He loved the outdoors and found joy “in the woods,” whether building big fires, sharing nightcaps with his brothers, caring for his chickens, or attempting to build what he jokingly referred to as his “garlic empire.” Robert also enjoyed playing pool and was a proud member of McNally’s Pool League.

A family man through and through, Robert was a proud father and an active, engaged grandfather. His humour, warmth, and larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Myrtle and William Reynolds; his brothers Will John, Mike, and James; and his nephews Barry, Kenny, and Brian.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Deb (MacIsaac) Reynolds; his children, Heather Sather (Bailey), Nicole Carey (Ryan), and Robert (Tara) Reynolds; his grandchildren, Braiden, Isaac, Easton, Dallas, Hayden, and Kiara; and his great-grandchildren, Brielle and Bella.

Robert is also survived by his siblings Jessie (Art), Ann Marie (Al), Mary, Marg, Regina (Fred), Elizabeth (Paul), Bill (Dianne), Lawrence (Sylvia), Peter (Wanda), Veronica (Mike), and Patrick (Sherri); as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or to the True Patriot Love Foundation, in support of Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans, and their families.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the care and compassion shown by all medical staff at the QEII Health Sciences Centre Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. We were truly blown away by the treatment and kindness shown to Robert and our family.
