Jean Francis Collins (nee Christie)
Jean was born December 9th, 1939, in Port Williams, Nova scotia. She grew up in Oxford, Nova Scotia with her sisters. She took a stenographer’s course and moved to Halifax where she took a job with Teasdale and Foot, a GM dealership. It was during this time that she met a handsome Irishman who stole her heart and they were married July 17th, 1965.
They lived in Bedford Nova Scotia, Quebec City Quebec, Ottawa Ontario and Ireland.
In 1968 they welcomed their daughter Laura.
Jean always loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours camping, skiing skating or simply hiking to take in the natural wonders of where she was living.
Jean was a gentle soul who struggled with her health but found comfort in her faith and family. She was a caregiver to many people and for those who saw this or benefitted from this, it was clear this was her calling.

Jean Gave of herself and asked little in return.
In recent years Jean lived at Northwood Terrace unit 1 Centre and received excellent care, including the hospice care for her last week of life. Many thanks to the exceptional staff.
Jean was predeceased by her mother, Dorthy Mary Christie (nee Kenney); Her father, William Hebert Christie; her sisters, Patricia Smith and Marion Christie.
She is survived by her husband, Gearoid Collins; daughter, Laura Walton (Paul); granddaughters, Haley Hanson (Anders) and Hannah Walton; and great granddaughters, Summer and Brooke Hanson; sisters, Beverly Martin and Donna Patterson and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held in the spring.
