Josephine Treby, 88, of Bedford, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026.
Born on October 19, 1937, in Maitland, Nova Scotia, Josephine - known to many as Jo - is survived by her devoted husband of over 60 years, D. Ray Treby, and her sister, Jean (Ken Connolly). She was a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews, all of whom speak fondly of their memories with Jo and her remarkable ability to make visitors feel welcome.
Jo was employed with Maritime Tel & Tel for more than 33 years, where she formed many lasting friendships. Her brilliant memory played a key role in her success with MT&T, a quality that remained strong even in her later years.
A lover of sports, Jo and Ray travelled to attend many sporting events. Jo enjoyed playing softball and bowling regularly. In more recent years, they shared a love of watching hockey, baseball, and curling, always with enthusiasm and hopeful anticipation of a Blue Jays or Toronto win.
Special thanks are extended to her niece, Chris Coakley, and Chris’ husband, John, for their support over the years.
In keeping with Jo’s wishes, no visitation or service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jo’s memory may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Maitland, c/o the Cemetery Fund or Hope for Wildlife.
