Robert Ethan Button, 21

Robert Ethan Button, age 21, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the QEII in Halifax surrounded by his loving family. Ethan was born on June 29, 2004, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

Survived by parents Warrick and Cheryl Button; sisters Caleigh and Sasha (Matthew); niece Emma Marie; aunts Dara (Richard) and Crystal (Steve); uncles Lawrence and Neal; grandfather Lawrence Nearing; first cousins Jaymie, Lawrence, Breton, Nathan and Rebecca; and many other cousins.

Predeceased by maternal grandmother Debbie Nearing, and paternal grandparents Donna and Dwight Button.

Ethan held many titles throughout his life — son, brother, cousin, and best friend — but the title he was most proud of was being Uncle Ethan to his niece, Emma Marie Button, whom he loved fiercely and unconditionally.

Ethan was known for his kind heart, loyalty, and the strong bonds he formed with those around him. He loved spending time with his friends, especially playing his games, sharing laughs, and making memories. Some of his happiest moments were spent outdoors, riding his four-wheeler, hunting and fishing alongside his dad — moments that brought him peace and joy.

Ethan took great pride in his work as a lobster fisherman and loved his job fishing aboard the Emma Marie, working side by side with his father. Being on the water wasn’t just work to Ethan — it was part of who he was.

Ethan’s smile, laughter, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the love he shared with his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10-11 a.m., with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m., all in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.
