Oh My ~Deepest condolences to Jim and the family you and Maureen so deeply loved. Maureen was the Light that brightened dark spaces. Moe was the Smile that made others feel safe and secure. Maureen was a gift to everyone who knew her ~ and to the strangers whose lives were transformed by her compassion, her wisdom, and her 'never giving up/positive spirit.'
Sorry ~It's taken me awhile to share my thoughts: This has been an exceptional time of loss for the Class 71 ~My Heart will forever be deeply grateful remembering the precious times spent together. Condolences to Jim and your family.

Jim and family….we were so sorry to hear about dear Maureen. She was a spark plug that’s for sure and I always so enjoyed any get together with her in it. She was such a great conversationalist and story teller and she was so earnestly interested in my goings on whenever we chatted. Only wish I had had more opportunities to be in her orbit ❤️ Take good care, think of you often.

Jim Meek. We have been brothers in journalism for fifty years. I'm the last eldest survivor of my birth family and my own wife died in 2013. As my Norwegian grandmother said at 92 with a twinkle in her eye: "The good die young." All the best to you and your family.

I loved knowing Maureen. She was unvarnished and as honest as an Albert County brook. When Maureen and Judy first met as neighbours on Lawrence St I knew there was a person of consequence. Intelligent, wickedly funny and a superb cook, she was my councillor for health issues for years. A great, solid, wonderful person.
I’ll miss you Maureen.

Peter and I are so deeply saddened by Maureen’s death. I studied and graduated with Maureen at “ The Martha “ in Antigonish 1971 …we had a small class that year being the last of the 3 year nursing program. Our paths crossed many times over the years .In Toronto where the twins were born then back in Halifax for many get togethers with other class members. She was an Icon in her field…an out standing nurse with the biggest heart going and with an abundance of compassion and caring…seeing Maureen would always lift my spirits..she had such a brilliant smile and joy for living . Moe will for sure u live in our hearts and our memories forever….

To the Family of the
Late Maureen,
Just wanted to say I was saddened by the passing of one of my former students.. I taught Maureen in grade nine. Very intelligent. with a' twinkle in her eye' ( But you already know that'.) It was pleasure working with that class. And I knew my French!
The last time I saw her was on our way back from Sudbury when we stopped at your house. I
believe Ottawa ) and we had a cup of tea and a piece of cinnamon cake..
I am now 94 years old , living at the " Maples" but remember all the good old days in Pomquet. Certainly knew Margaret and Joe.
Now at a better place may she rest in peace.!

My condolences to Moe’s family on her passing . I was a classmate with her at St Martha ‘s . We were a small class so became the best of friends for the three years we all spent together . Playing cards after a shift in the residence lounge to walking down the ‘hill’ to Wong’s . Dances at St FX and keeping out of the watchful eye of Sr Barbara. Those were special years and even tho we lost contact after graduation, it all seems like yesterday . Rest easy Maureen DeYoung , will be seeing you on the other side .. your friend Betty Stonehouse Cameron
