Kassidy Suraya Marriott-Crawford Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Kassidy Suraya Marriott-Crawford on January 3, 2026 in St. Margarets Bay.

Kassidy lived a beautiful 20 years filled with love and happiness. Kind to her core, she brought warmth and light into every room she entered and made her way through the world making others feel seen, heard, and loved. An old-soul, she seemed to know what everyone needed before they ever had to ask. Whether bringing home donuts and saving her mom’s favourites or taking care of her best friend when she was sick. Kassidy showed up for her loved ones. She was present for the little things that meant the most.

Kassidy was raised between St. Margarets Bay and Beechville with her parents and many loving family members and friends. She spent her early teens living in Calgary, where she found her place as a Royal Canadian Army Cadet, attached to 1292 RCAC from 2017-2020 and 2632 RCAC in Halifax from 2020-2022. Demonstrating her outstanding commitment and comradeship with the RCAC, she was awarded a RSM Trophy Award and the Cadet Medal of Excellence.

Kassidy was a 2023 graduate from Bay View High School. She subsequently completed the Foundation Year at King’s College and was halfway through her second year at Mount Saint Vincent University. She was working toward a Degree in Public Policy with a minor in French.

Outside of her commitments, Kassidy was always planning her next adventure - a vintage shop road trip, seeing a show with her Dad, or travelling to visit friends. She was endlessly creative. A button could be turned into art in her hands. Whether drawing, making creatures out of clay, or crocheting - that girl had talent. She also loved to make her own traditions like celebrating a Tijuana Christmas Eve.

Kassidy was deeply connected to the communities she was part of, from working as the Manager of the Little Ice Cream Shop in Black Point - making everyone’s day happier, painting faces at Beechville Days, and helping her grandfather with the SMATVA, to being a lunchtime monitor at her sister’s school. She just couldn’t get enough of the people and the places that brought her joy.

Kassidy is survived by her mother, Amber M Marriott (Ryan Newman); father, Clayton Crawford; her dear brother, Remmy Marriott; and sisters, Neriah Marriott, Jaymee Aniyah Crawford Howell and Aurora Howell and her honorary sister and best friend, Nadia Price. Kassidy was adored by her grandparents, Fay C Marriott, Michael A Marriott (Suzanne Duperly), Kenny Crawford, and Tina Miller; her great-grandmother, Louise Schell; and her uncle, Shelby Crawford, as well as her extended family, including the Marriott family and Crawford great aunts and uncles (Colleen, Lisa, Sharon, Pam, Art, Mike) and her many cousins.

Kassidy was predeceased by her great-grandparents, Kenneth and Joyce Crawford, Mary and Jim Marriott, and Bernard Schell, all of whom loved Kassidy very much.

Though our hearts ache with Kassidy’s passing, we know our memories of her aren’t complete. There are still chapters to be written, puzzles she began that we can finish, and countless ways to carry her with us. For those who weren’t lucky enough to know her well, come chat with those who loved her most. We’d love to tell you all about the clever, beautiful, and talented Kassidy Suraya Marriott-Crawford.

An informal, drop-in celebration of life will be held on January 25th, 2026 in the Safety Minded ATV Association (SMATVA) Club House (11 Station Road, Head of St. Margarets Bay) from 2:00-4:00pm. We ask family to join us beginning at 1:00pm. In honour of January 26th being Kassidy’s birthday (a day she shares with her father, Clayton), please wear bright colours — she would have wanted joy, not sorrow.

Amber and the kids plan to preserve and cherish photos and artwork created by Kassidy and welcome empty frames, scrapbooks, etc., that remind you of her - they plan to use these to fill with memories. You can bring them to the celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, family friends have set up a GoFundMe to help cover some of the funeral-related costs: https://www.gofundme.com/f/kassidy-marriott
