We, the family of Ruth Ann Delaney (Fewer), regret to announce her passing on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family.

Born in Sydney, Ruth was the daughter of the late Gregory and Ruth (Hareguy) Fewer.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Troy Ryan, Chad (Karen) Ryan; 3 grandchildren, Rein, Chade, and Cody, as well as 2 great grandchildren, Scyler and Sawyer. Also surviving are sisters, Patricia MacLean, Sydney River; Rebecca Barrington, Sydney River; Sheila (Gary Carew) Fewer, Sydney; and brother Gary (Maxine), Northside East Bay; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Frank Delaney; sister, Colleen MacCormick, and brothers, Gregory and Allan Fewer.

Ruth had a great love for camping. Her favorite pastime was spending her summers camping at MacLeod’s Beach and Campsite with her beloved husband Frank.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902-539-7175. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A private family gathering will take place.

Memorial donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Home Care and the Palliative Care Unit, especially Brett Gillis, for all their kindness and care for Ruth.
