With broken hearts, we share the sudden passing of our beloved Susan Ozon. Sue left us on January 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of friends and family.
Sue was born in Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, the youngest daughter of Margaret (née Delaney) and Joseph Ozon. Being the youngest suited her. She carried a quiet strength, a sharp wit, and a deeply caring nature that stayed with her throughout her life.
Sue had a lifelong love of learning and creativity. She earned a BA (Honours) in English from the University of King’s College, a Diploma in Theatre Arts Production from Langara College, and later a Master of Library and Information Studies from Dalhousie University. She took great pride in her long career with the Province of Nova Scotia as a Records Analyst and was looking forward to retiring this spring and beginning a new chapter.
Community mattered deeply to Sue. As a teenager, she took part in Reach for the Top at Sydney Academy and sang in the junior choir. As an adult, she poured her energy into creative and meaningful work with Longhouse Co-op, the Atlantic International Film Festival, The Milkman Theatre Group, and many other productions. Sue had a gift for supporting the arts and the people behind them, often quietly and without recognition.
Christmas held a special place in Sue’s heart. She loved decorating her tree and wrapping gifts with care and precision, each one a reflection of how thoughtfully she loved others. It felt especially fitting that she was able to return home to Sydney, Nova Scotia, with her beautifully wrapped presents one last time.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, whom she loved dearly. She leaves behind her siblings Mary, Andre (Heather), and Annette (Mike MacEachern); her cherished nephew Andrew; and her beloved pets, Scarlet and Charlie, who brought her so much comfort and joy.
We are forever grateful to the friends and family who stood beside us during Sue’s final days. Your presence, kindness, and love lightened our burden more than you will ever know. We were also deeply moved by the outpouring of support from Sue’s friends and colleagues, a true reflection of how many lives she touched.
Sue will be lovingly remembered by her extended family, friends, and colleagues.
Sue, we know you are now at peace, reunited with Mom and Dad. Rest gently, sweet Sue.
You are deeply loved, and you will always be missed.
