It is with profound sorrow that we, the family of Sheila Pottie, announce her passing on December 27, 2025 at Hospice Cape Breton.

Sheila was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, to the late Sidney and Gladys (Huntington) Lotherington. She is survived by her sisters, Thelma MacLean and Valerie Lotherington; brothers, Edward, Charles (Susan), Kenny (Wanda), and Gordie; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Amedie; sister, Gladys, in infancy; brother and sister-in-law, Sidney (Nancy); and nephews, Robbie Lotherington and Michael Lotherington.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175.In keeping with Sheila’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. There will be a Celebration of Life at the funeral home on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 1 – 3 pm.

In memory of Sheila, donations may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
