Karim Ishac (Isaac) Kafrouny

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Karim Ishac (Isaac) Kafrouny, on December 25, 2025, at his home in Cole Harbour, N.S., with his family at his side, after a long battle with cancer.

Born March 23, 1954, in Miniara, Akkar, Lebanon, to Ishac Kafrouny and Latifeh Sarraf (both predeceased), Karim grew up in Lebanon, met and fell in love with Rahil Karam, later married, then immigrated to Nova Scotia in 1977, where he held many entrepreneurial ventures, then worked as a taxi driver in the Halifax Regional Municipality until his retirement.

An Orthodox Christian man, Karim was well-known for his positive spirit, generosity, his storytelling, his fun-loving nature, and his undying love and care for his family, which brought him such joy and pride. He was loved by his family beyond measure. Karim loved building things and tending to his garden and plants, which were his favorite hobbies. Karim also loved being surrounded by his grandchildren. Karim had a heart of gold. Even in illness, Dad was always trying to help others.

Karim is survived by his wife, Rahil “Amira” (Karam) Kafrouny, his daughter, Arzy, and his three sons, Bassam (Ashlee), George (Mahbouba), Elias, and his grandchildren Christopher, Peter, John, Jacob, and Nylah. He is also survived by his sister, Ibtissam Kafrouny (Yousef), and brothers, Bassam (Jacqueline), Michel (Hind), and Elias (Mirna), and his many nieces and nephews.

A heartfelt thank you to all of Dad’s caregivers from the Dartmouth General Hospital, staff at 3 West, Victoria General Hospital Cancer Centre, and all paramedics at Emergency Health Services that were involved in Dad’s care.

Funeral service will be held in Saint Antonios Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2480 Windsor Street, Halifax, N.S., on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Antonios Antiochian Orthodox Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.

As you are with God now, Dad, we will all miss you deeply and keep your spirit forever in our hearts. You made our world a better place.
