Jon MacIntosh
Ian Jonathan “Jon”, “Long Jon” MacIntosh, 64, previously Port Morien, NS, passed away peacefully December 24, 2025.
Jon was the son of the late Ian and Effie (MacDonald) MacIntosh. Brother to Jocelyn (David) Marshall and Janice MacIntosh (George DellaValle). Uncle to Bryson, Breton, Breanne, and Hannah. Favorite nephew to Calder and Georgina MacDonald. Colleen, daughter of Calder, held a special place in Jon’s heart, thinking of her more as a sister than a cousin.
Jon began his career at Devco and most recently retired from the CB Housing Authority.
Jon was happiest outdoors and working in the woods, appreciating the natural beauty all around him. He was a gentle giant, giving more than he received. Jon took after his mother Effie, seeing good in everyone and having a love for animals. He had a wonderful sense of humor and everyone enjoyed his story telling.
Jon will truly be missed by his family and many, many friends he made along his way.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay (902-849-4199)
At Jon’s request there will be a private family burial at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Sydney Cancer Center and especially, Hospice NS, where he lived and was cared for like family. We would also like to thank Dr. D'Intino for her guidance and compassion through Jon’s final days and the amazing staff who treated him like family.
