It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Blair Robertson of River Bourgeois on December 14, 2025.

Born in Sydney on February 3, 1979, he is the son of Donnie Robertson and Rebecca Lewis. Besides his parents, Blair is survived by his stepmom, Linda Robertson; sister, Dawn Marie Brightman (Greg), Truro; brother, Noel MacDonald (Lindsay), Halifax; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; and longtime childhood friend, Greg Morrison.

Blair will be remembered for his deep love of his family and his cherished childhood memories of his time spent at the bungalow in Irish Vale with his many cousins.

Blair was a devout Detroit Red Wings fan and his favorite all time player was the one and only, Steve Yzerman.

In addition to being a living sports encyclopedia, Blair had impeccable taste in vintage rock and classic cinema. He could wax poetic about the finest directors, actors, lyrics and albums with the vocabulary of a critic but with joy for the craft.

Blair was a recipient of the Cape Breton Literacy Award for his poetry, presented by Alastair MacLeod.

He was a dedicated advocate for People First of Canada and was widely recognized for his impactful speech at a Halifax Conference where his knowledge and dedication earned him considerable respect.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, December 20, from 12 – 2 pm with a Celebration of Life following at 2 pm, Rev. Lydia MacKinnon officiating.
