It is with deep sadness that we the family of Clare Marie White, 82, of Glace Bay, announce her passing on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in North Sydney, Clare grew up in Sydney with the MacKenzie family on Margaret Street in the Pier. Later, she moved to Glace Bay for her final year in high school, living with the MacKinnon family, and graduated from Saint Michael’s High School.

Clare began her career as a clerk with Koolex Dry Cleaners and later worked in the X-ray department of Saint Joseph’s Hospital. She married her devoted husband, Henry, with whom she shared 57 wonderful years. Together they raised two children, Brenton and Paula, and welcomed one cherished grandson, Kieran, whom she loved dearly.

A passionate wife and mother, Clare returned to work when her children were older and eventually retired from a call centre in Sydney. She loved sharing stories from her job and had a gift for conversation--she could sell snow to a snowman in the middle of the winter.

Clare had a charitable heart and was always ready to help families and university students in need. She volunteered with a variety of organizations over the years, including St. Vincent de Paul, the Ladies Sodality of Holy Family Parish, The East Coast Music Awards, and with a church organization in Halifax while living there with her family.

Clare will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humour, and unwavering love for her family.

Clare is survived by her husband Henry White of 57 years; a son Brenton White and a daughter Paula (Shannon) White; one sister Margaret Almon (MacLean), as well as one grandchild Kieran White, and several nieces and nephews.

As per her wishes, cremation will take place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 12 to 1 p.m. and a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m., with Fr. Bill Burke presiding, all in Tracey’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.

Thank you to the Emergency Health Services (EHS), and the Emergency Department in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, for their valiant effort in caring for our mom in her last moments with us.
