James “Jim” Currie, 75
Glace Bay, N.S.
It is with deep sorrow that I Michelle, loving wife of James “Jim” Currie, Glace Bay, announce his passing at home on Sunday, November 30, 2025, with his family at his side. Jim was the son of the late Donald and Pearl Currie.
Jim worked until his retired with the CBRM in the Bus and Town Garage with maintaining the upkeep of the heavy equipment. For many years he drove the School Bus, Transit Cape Breton, along with many private chartered companies. After retirement Jim drove with Sonny’s Taxi for eleven years. In his free time, he could be found in the backyard fiddling and fixing anything. Jim enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved going on long scenic drives especially to Gabarus; he was a shopper mostly for his pal Monti. Jim had a great sense of humour, joking, aggravating, and poking fun all for a good laugh.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife Michelle (Sampson) Currie of 37 years; two sons Jimmy (Melissa) and Dannie (Tracey); a daughter Alisha (Tyler); brothers Darrell and Raymond; sisters Bernadette and Geraldine; grandchildren Jessica, Haley, Ayden, Lila, and Dayton; great-grandchild Gabriel; fur baby Monti; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along side his parents Jim was predeceased by parents in law Donnie and Morag Sampson, sister Mary, brother Donnie, and son David.
Cremation has taken place, as per Jim’s request, there will be no service.
A very special thank you to VON, doctors, and nurses with the Palliative Care Team for their care and compassion given to Jim and family during his illness. Also, to his daughter in law Melissa and special friend Ann Vaters.

Jim’s favourite quote was:
“If you can’t laugh you ain’t living.”
