Glace Bay

It is with deep sadness and love that we the family announce the passing of Joan G. (Boutilier) Edwards, age of 87 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Flo (Warren) and Ralph Boutilier. Joan was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan, she enjoyed watching her game shows and doing crossword puzzles. Joan is survived by her son, Dave (Tootsie); daughter, Joan (George) Murphy; grandsons, Dave Edwards (Lindsay), New Brunswick, Scott Simms (Melissa) Glace Bay; granddaughters, Erica Edwards, Ontario, Ashley Edwards (Corey), Glace Bay, Jennifer Murphy, Sydney, Angela Murphy, Sydney; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews as well as her fur baby Whiskers.

Besides her parents, Flo and Ralph, Joan was predeceased by her lifelong partner, Neil ‘Max’ Boutilier; daughter, Joyce McDonald; great granddaughter Ceilidh Grace Edwards; sisters, Joyce McNeil, Patricia (in infancy); brother, Ronnie Boutilier; sister-in-law, Denise Mooney, USA.

A special thank you to the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, 4A and Hospice for all their care and compassion given to Joan during her stay. Cremation has taken place. As per her wishes there will be no visitation or service.
