John Douglas Rideout, age 88. Of Halifax, Nova Scotia passed away on October 31,2025 at Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Moncton New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna (Wood) Rideout.
Throughout his professional life he was a Manufacturer’s Agent, owner of a Manpower Franchise, Restaurant /Sub Shop owner, Licensed Stock Broker.
During his life he was a Vice-President of Rotary Club of Halifax; President of MADD, President of Corte, the Dance Club of Halifax, and a member of Run Nova Scotia.
He enjoyed golf, running, and ballroom dancing. He was dance host on several cruise ships including the QE 11.
He is survived by his partner Jenny Keenan (and her son James Keenan), daughter Valerie Rideout and sister Hughanna Laird.
John was predeceased by his wife Eleanor, daughter Lisa Rideout, sister Janet Rideout.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Trinity Anglican
Church, 321 Main Ave, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 2pm-4pm.
In John’s memory donations to the Parkinson Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of 4West at Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care they provided to John during his stay.
