Evelyn Morrison
Dominion
We are saddened to announce the passing of our dear sister, aunt, and friend, Evelyn Morrison, who passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Margaret (MacDonald) Morrison.
To know Ev was to know the true meanings of unconditional love, unwavering support, and unending kindness. Ev spent the majority of her life caring for others—first as a Personal Care Worker in Halifax and later as a devoted daughter, niece, and sister.
Evelyn began her career at Bethany in Antigonish before moving to Halifax, where she trained as a Personal Care Worker. She went on to work at Northwood, devoting herself to the comfort and well-being of the residents in her care. When her sister Edith was diagnosed with ALS, Evelyn left her position—but not her calling—to care for Edith and her three children, Elana, Ian, and Laura. After her sister’s passing, Evelyn returned home to Dominion, where she continued to give of herself selflessly, caring for her mother, aunt, and brother.
Ev’s passion for her family was matched only by her sharp, quick-witted sense of humour and her love for Cape Breton music—all of which will be forever missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by two brothers, Ray (Anita) of River Ryan, NS, and Greg (Marianne) of St. Catharines, ON, as well as nieces and nephews, Elana, Ian, Laura, Keith, Kevin, Ian, Jeannie, Greg, Katie, Shelley, and Kenny. She is also survived by in-laws and dear friends Philip “Geeper” MacDonald and Margie Morrison (Hall), along with several grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her sister Edith MacDonald; brothers Harold, Daniel, and Robert; and darling niece Janet.
We’d like to extend heartfelt thanks to her dedicated home care workers, and to the nursing staff at Glace Bay Hospital, as well as the CCU and An Cala Palliative units at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, for their exceptional care and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 12-2 p.m., and a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m., with Fr. Daniel Boudreau presiding, all in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.
Donations in Ev’s honour may be made to the ALS Society or Hospice Cape Breton.
