Alexander "Sandy" Brennan Falconer Obituary

Alexander “Sandy” Brennan Falconer passed away peacefully at home on October 25, 2025, surrounded by the unwavering love of his wife and daughters, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Halifax to Robin and Marlene Falconer, Sandy was a graduate of J.L. Ilsley High School and Saint Mary’s University. He went on to earn his CMA/CPA designation, which he used to build a long and fulfilling career in finance. Sandy’s entire adult working life was spent at the CBC, where he formed many lasting personal and professional relationships. He enjoyed his work and the connections he made there.

Sandy was a devoted family man. He and his wife Mary-Ann shared a true partnership built on love, respect, and quiet strength. Together, they raised four daughters—Allyson, Emily, Isabelle, and Olivia—who were the center of his world. Sandy was the proudest “girl dad,” always present and engaged. He actively supported every aspect of their lives—from their education and career paths to their hobbies, friendships, and personal growth. Whether coaching their sports teams, cheering from the sidelines, or simply listening with patience and love, Sandy was a constant source of encouragement. His grandson, Cole Bentley, brought him immense joy and was a bright light in his life.

A natural coach and mentor, Sandy volunteered in the community through any sport that his daughters wanted to play, always showing up with enthusiasm and encouragement. He cherished time spent at the family cottage on Lake Torment, where campfires, cold beers, swims, walks, and laughter created many cherished memories.

Sandy had a gift for conversation and a warmth that drew people in. He was compassionate, attentive, and genuinely funny—if you spent time with Sandy, you were guaranteed a laugh.

Sandy lived and breathed sports and he loved sharing that passion with family and friends. Over the years, he transitioned from playing to coaching, always eager to talk sports and support others in the game. Sandy especially loved the Boston Bruins, and the New England Patriots, and could effortlessly recall stats, stories, and memorable moments.

Sandy is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Mary-Ann; his daughters Allyson (Jeremy) Bentley, Emily (Sean Mellor), Isabelle, and Olivia; and his cherished grandson, Cole Bentley.

He is also survived by his parents, Robin and Marlene Falconer; his sister Andrea Falconer; brother Matthew (“Mugsy”) Falconer; and his Falconer aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, and nephews.

Sandy held a special place in the heart of his mother-in-law, Colleen and all the Bowdridge family, who considered him one of their own. He will be fondly remembered by a large extended family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Sandy will also be dearly missed by many close friends who shared in his life and laughter.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the team on 8A and 8BMT at the VG for their care during Sandy’s time there.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 9th at 3:00 p.m. at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Community Centre, 1146 Purcells Cove Road.
