Marguerite Stephenson Obituary

Marguerite Stephenson

Dominion

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Marguerite Stephenson, at home on October 23, 2025. Thank you to our sister Anne who lovingly cared for our Mom, in the comfort of her home until her passing at the age of 98 years.

Mom was born to Mae (Flemming) and Thomas McIntyre, whom she proudly stated was a Police Sergeant. Mom was a devoted wife to Francis; family was everything to her. She was an amazing homemaker, cook and baker. Above all, Mom was a wonderful mother to us, Mary Lou (Gene) Hickey, Linda (Wayne) Poirier, Anne and Jane who passed away 2020.

Mom was a woman of great faith. It was her strong faith that helped her to accept the many losses in her life. She prayed daily and consistently added new people to her prayer list. Mom was a loving grandmother to David (Mitzi), Mark (Lainey), Derek (Trent), Brent, as well as great grandmother to Mariah and Joe Hickey. Mom spent most of her life unselfishly caring for others.

At 17 years of age, she took over the household responsibilities to help her father, she loved and cared for her siblings, and they loved and respected her. Mom is survived by brothers, Malcolm (Eileen), Peter, Joe Allan; sister Fran (Steve) as well as many nieces, nephews, and close family friends. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, Francis; her daughter, Jane; mother and father-in-law, Ethel and Raymond Stephenson; brothers, Tommy (Murph), Gerard (Mary), Dan (Margo), Rev. James McIntyre, Tom (Theresa); sisters, Claire (Richard) Foreman, Catherine (Phil) Pirraine and Irene.

Thank you to the medical professionals who compassionately guided us through Mom’s declining health. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding.

Burial to follow in St. Eugene’s Cemetery. Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting tjtracey.com
