The family of David (Davy) Joseph Libbus are saddened to announce his passing on Monday, October 21, 2025. Born in Sydney, Davy was the son of the late Joe and Arlene (Lynch) Libbus.

Davy was a huge music lover and Steelers fan (football was his love). He loved to read, play solitaire, and sudoku and of course be with family.

He left home at 17 for Quebec, where he worked on the railway before moving to Alberta for many years, then to Ontario as a truck driver until his return home to Sydney, where he continued as a truck driver until he became ill.

Davy is survived by his son, Chris Barclay, Ont.; brothers, Jerry, Sydney, Gordie (Colleen) Livingstone, NB; sisters, Charlene (Carson) Ferguson, Sydney, and Bernadette (Joe) Hickey, Alberta.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his uncles, Charles (Sandy) Libbus, Roddie Watkins-Libbus; aunts, Theresa (Lynch) MacKinnon, Shirley MacNeil, Karen Boozan, and Madeline Libbus.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will take place in the funeral home on Sunday, November 2, from 1-2 pm with a service at 2 pm in the chapel, Fr. Evo Dipierro officiating. A reception will follow.
