In Loving Memory of Malcolm Richard Boniface
October 27, 1942 – October 5, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the peaceful passing of Malcolm Richard Boniface on October 5, 2025, at his home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, just weeks before his 83rd birthday.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on October 27, 1942, Malcolm was the beloved youngest of three sons to the late Albert Herbert Boniface and Kathleen Patricia Ball. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Michael Boniface, his cherished daughter Hazel Lewis, and his beloved granddaughter Jennifer Ker.
Malcolm is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 64 years, Helen Boniface, his grandson Jeffrey Ker, and great-grandchildren Michael, Jasmine, Stephanie, Bailee, Chloe, Jayda, and Levi. His legacy of kindness, strength, and quiet determination lives on through them.
Malcolm’s life was one of dedication, craftsmanship, and quiet courage. He began his career as an apprentice Shipwright at the Rosyth Naval Dockyard in Scotland, where he gained his diploma and set sail on a lifelong journey in naval engineering. His skilled hands and steadfast work ethic took him across the globe — from Simonstown Naval Yard in Cape Town, South Africa, to Garden Island Naval Yard in Sydney, Australia, and finally to Vancouver Shipyards in North Vancouver, British Columbia. He later worked with TransLink Vancouver, contributing to the infrastructure of a city he called home for many years.
In 2000, Malcolm and Helen retired to the quiet beauty of Nova Scotia, where he embraced the slower pace of life with grace and contentment. He spent his final years surrounded by nature, family, and the enduring love of his wife, who was his partner, confidante, and greatest supporter for over six decades.
Malcolm was a man of few words but great depth — dignified, reliable, and endlessly compassionate. He took pride in his work, comfort in his family, and joy in the small, meaningful moments that defined a life well-lived.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
