Mary Lou Blundon Obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we, the family of Mary Lou Blundon, announce her passing on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on March 11, 1940, to Thomas and Jessie Mew. She is survived by her partner, Paul Dakai; daughters, Bonnie Lou (Reg), Shauna, Melanie (Ken), and son, Doug (Lori); grandchildren, Charles, Stefanie, Kathryn, Reg, Cody, Ryan, Kelsey, Riley; and great-grandchildren, Rowan and Avery. She is also survived by her sister, Joan (Billy) Mills, lifelong best friend, Joyce (Cyril) Brown, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Steve, and sister, Isabel Bruckschwaiger.
Mary Lou was a talented rughooker who belonged to multiple hooking groups, as well as a gifted knitter who spent her Fridays at the James McConnell Memorial Library in Sydney knitting for others. She enjoyed gardening every summer with Paul and always enjoyed sharing her love and knowledge of gardening with others. She was an avid animal lover and leaves behind her beloved dog, Marly.
Mary Lou was compassionate and always looked for opportunities to help others. Her generous spirit carries on, as she has donated her body to further education and research in medical sciences at Dalhousie University.
