Robert Charles "Bobby" Roach Obituary

Robert (Bobby) Charles Roach 69, Halifax, passed away suddenly at the VG hospital on Sunday, August 31.

Bobby was born on November 1, 1955 at the Halifax Infirmary. He was the only son of Robert (Benny) and Mary Roach, nee (Wedge).

Bobby was a true North Ender and lived his whole life in that area of Halifax. He loved going for drives around Rosemead Ave, where we grew up. He could tell you everybody's name who lived on that street. We often joked about being raised Catholic and therefore we were not allowed to eat meat on Fridays. He said “I guess that’s why my favourite food is fish and chips”.

Bobby was an avid reader and spent many hours picking out books at the Halifax library. He loved to keep up with world news and share his ‘colourful’ feelings about today’s world leaders.

Bobby lived a simple life and was grateful for anything you did for him. He was very kind and would give you his last dollar.

Bobby worked for 20 years at Volvo until the plant closed at the dockyards. He then worked for a courier company and spent his later years as custodian at St. James Anglican Church, Armdale. He enjoyed caring for the church and being around the people in the congregation. They became like family to him.

Bobby is survived by his beautiful daughters, Nicole (Dana) Drake, Dartmouth and his daughter Holly Roach, Vancouver. His four granddaughters, McKenzie, Carly, Dylan and Zoe.

He will be dearly missed by his sisters, Sandra MacDonald, Jackie Matheson, Beth Rossong and Marilyn Milbury (George). His brother in laws, Doug MacDonald, Gary Breau (Darlene).

Thank you for all the laughs and great stories over the years Unkie Bob! Your nieces and nephews, Scott, Jayme, Jill, Robbie, Jeff, Tim, Tony, Shauna, Bobby and Ben.

Bobby was predeceased by his mom and dad, Mary and Bob, sisters Debbie MacDonald and Robyn Breau, his nephews Steve Webster and Joey Matheson, his brother in laws Murray MacDonald, Ross Matheson and Tony Rossong. They would all be waiting for you with open arms!

There will be no visitation or funeral by personal request.

In memory of Bobby please do a kind deed to help someone less fortunate.

RIP Brother Bob xo

When I’m Gone:

When I come to the end of my journey

And I travel my last weary mile,

Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned

And remember only the smile
