She is survived by her husband, Don; daughter, Cheryl (David); son, Glen (Cathy), Ottawa; grandchildren, Isaac and June; brothers, Wayne (Shirley) and Blair (Judy), Fredericton. She is also survived by in-laws, John MacEachern, Alex MacEachern, Helen Read (late Charles Read), Evelyn Green (Fred), Edmund (Colleen), as well as several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by father and mother-in- law, Donald and Ellen MacEachern, and brothers-in-law, Charles Read and Mervyn MacEachern.
She was a graduate of Holy Angels High School. Upon graduation she worked for a number of local businesses including American Optical and the Sydney and Whitney Pier Bus Company. She was a member of St. Anthony Daniel Parish CWL and co-founded the St. Anthony Daniel Girls Youth Group. In retirement she and Don enjoyed travelling which included driving across Canada, trips to Florida and Cuba and frequent visits to Ottawa to see family. Sylvia was very proud of the Acadian heritage she inherited from her AuCoin ancestors.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of units 3B and palliative care, of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Their dedication and compassion were a great comfort to Sylvia and family during her hospital stay.
