Rebekah Naomi Mifflin Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and sadness we announce that Rebekah passed on, having just turned 29 years old. Rebekah loved Cape Breton/Unama’ki and made this her home.

Rebekah accomplished many things in her young life. She graduated from Memorial High School, with Distinction, in 2014. She continued, and attended Cape Breton University, graduating with her Bachelor of Arts Degree, Major in Communication, in 2020. Rebekah was passionate about her work as a youth advocate, contributing to foster care reform in NS.

She loved helping others, and she spent these past several years, doing just that! Rebekah was especially proud of her work with Peer Support Nova Scotia, as a Peer Support Specialist. She gravitated to the field of mental health and addictions. Rebekah returned to study at Cape Breton University, recently graduating with her Bachelor of Social Work Degree, another proud accomplishment. She was excited to be working her first social work job at the Ally Centre of Cape Breton, a place near and dear to her heart.

Rebekah was also a proud member of the LGBTQIA community. With her great big heart, she was loved by many. Rebekah loved all animals and wildlife alike; she loved being outdoors, especially walking the Baille Ard Trail, and going to the beach, with Dominion Beach being a favorite. Last, but certainly not least, Rebekah was a cat person, through and through, caring not only for her own, but along with her special and kind neighbors, she helped care for, and love any cat that crossed her path. She grieved the loss of her dearly departed Milo, who passed away June 30, 2023. Rebekah is survived by her best friend, Molly, whom she cared for lovingly these past 10 years.

Rebekah will be missed dearly by her friends, colleagues and chosen family members, all who knew her kind heart and beautiful spirit.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Aesop.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. A private burial will be held at a later date.

I will endure a lifetime of missing you, for the privilege of loving you. Maya Angelou
