Earl Edward Evans Obituary
July 13, 1943 – July 2, 2025
We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Earl Edward Evans at the age of 81, at his home on July 2, 2025.
Born and raised in Spryfield, Nova Scotia, Earl was the beloved son of the late Earl and Pauline Evans (Collicott).
He was a man of many layers—each remembered differently by those who knew him—but all who crossed his path knew his love for nature, music, and taking long drives to see what was around the next bend of every road he traveled.
Earl spent much of his youth at the Long Lake Dam, where he found peace watching sunsets and listening to the splash of fish in the water—often with a fly rod in hand and a cold beer nearby. His passions included fly fishing, fly tying, hunting, music, and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays.
A proud Longshoreman, Earl dedicated over 50 years to the Halifax waterfront most notably as a crane operator and hot room card player. He was a familiar face at the Old Halifax Tavern, later known as Jenny’s Pub where he enjoyed payday lunches and beers with his many friends.
Before settling into that life, Earl traveled across Canada and the United States as a bass guitarist, most notably with the band Walt and the Saints and he thoroughly enjoyed many weekends playing the big dances at Carpenters Hall in Halifax- a time he remembered fondly.
Earl was predeceased by his parents, Pauline and Earl; Sisters, Phyllis and Denise; and his grandson, Matthew Snow; Brother in laws, Ron, Mike and Lorne.
Earl is survived by his three children, born to Sandra Dorey: Tony (Liz), Darren (Kelly), and Alanna (Lisa); his grandchildren, Jennifer, Mark, Brianna, Matthew, Alexandra, Melissa, and Rebecca; and his great-grandchildren, Mattea, Kali Tyler, Haidyn, Darius, Everlee, Josephine, Sydney, Adaline, Brooklyn, and Noah.
Earl is also survived by his siblings, Marion Gilfoy, David (Sandra), Roy, Janice Musolino, Robert, Gary (Anna), Pam Anderson.
In accordance with Earl’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or celebration of life.
