James Roland "Jim" Smith Obituary
It is with deepest sorrow that we, the family of Jim Smith of Terence Bay, announce his passing on June 24th, 2025 at the QE2 hospital in Halifax. Born May 17, 1936, dad was the son of the late Warren and Monica Smith. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his loving children: Scherene, Kane, Lana (Stephen), Peter (Chrystal) grandchildren Whitney (Jenn), Katelyn (Patrick) and beloved great grandchildren Chase, Nathan and Lucas. As well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Lainie and his brother Colin.
Dad lived his entire life in Terence Bay with his loving wife, our mother, Lainie until her passing in 2017. For the past several years he lived independently surrounded by many great friends in Prospect. Dad worked many jobs but spent most of his life driving a school bus and connecting with the hundreds of students who travelled on his bus daily.
Dad loved to go deer hunting with his buddies, but he enjoyed sharing all the stories with his friends even more. He loved that time of year and for that reason a celebration of his life will be held in the Fall at St Paul’s Church in Terence Bay (date to be determined).
The family would like to thank the nurses on 8.2 at the QE2 for caring for dad through his final days.
Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists in Halifax
