Medeiros, John Charles, 47, Lower Sackville, NS – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John (Joao Carlos) Medeiros, which occurred in Lakelands, NS on April 16, 2025.

John was born in Halifax, NS on October 4, 1977, the youngest of three children to Gail (Beranger) and Eugenio Medeiros. He grew up in Halifax and Mount Uniacke, graduating from Halifax West High School in 1998. John was a life-long soccer fan, and in his younger years played for various clubs around Halifax.

John found his calling when he started working with stone in the countertop industry. He quickly honed his craft and was well-respected for his exceptional attention to detail, and for his ability to cut and edge stone the ‘old-school’ way – by hand. He was employed by Living Stone in Mount Uniacke since 2019 where he was a highly valued employee and friend.

John was very proud of his Portuguese heritage and always looked forward to a Sunday family dinner. He loved playing sports, good food, good music, a cold beer and a blazing campfire. He had a work ethic like very few and always took pride in a job well done. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved the outdoors. He loved animals. He loved kids. He loved.

John is survived by his beloved daughter, Allie, Lower Sackville; mother, Gail, Halifax; sister, Angelina (Jackie) and nephew, Cain, Dartmouth; brother, Peter (Traci), Halifax; Uncles Joseph (Fatima) & John (Linda), Aunts Maria Bartolacci and Sharon Beranger, all of HRM; Allie’s mother, Bonnie MacIntyre, Lower Sackville; loving partner Lauren Fullerton, New Minas; several cousins, extended family and many friends. To those who were closest to John in recent times: thank you all for having been there.

He was predeceased by his father, Eugenio; maternal grandparents Charles and Amelia Beranger; paternal grandparents Pedro Furtado-Medeiros and Maria de Lourdes Braga; uncles Gerald & Paul Beranger; aunt Mary Richardson.

John wanted no formal arrangements; cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate John’s life is planned for Monday, June 30, 2025, at Sackville Lions Club from 1-3pm. Burial to follow at 3:30pm, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. The burial will be self-directed, and those who wish to say a few words in John’s memory are welcome to do so. Those attending are encouraged to wear blue.
