Catherine Marie "Kay" Hill Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family must announce the passing of Catherine (Kay) Hill, which occurred on June 18th, surrounded by her loving family at the Northside General Hospital.
Born August 19, 1930, in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Gertrude Desveaux.
At a young age, she worked at the Morris Chocolate Factory in New Brunswick. She spent many years volunteering with the Ladies Auxiliary (WINS) in Point Edward and also Holy Rosary Parish where she was affectionately known as the “ticket lady”. She spent her life as a devoted mother, raising generations of children to be kind and empathetic to others; and famous for her tea biscuits, molasses cookies, and fresh baked bread.
Kay is survived by her four children; daughters, Diana Hill, at home in Point Edward, Gertie (Gerald) MacKay, Edwardsville, Gloria Doyle, Sydney; son, Richard (Brenda) Hill, Frenchvale; nine grandchildren, Annette (Ryan) MacLean, Steve (Tanya) Hill, Gail (Richard) Townsend, Charlene Artur, Raylene Williams, Karen (Brian) MacKay, Amanda (Todd) Williams, Nicholas Hill, Jamie (Sarah) Hill; sixteen great grandchildren, Stewart, Scott, Suede, Mackayla, Caleigh, Rachel, Alex, Dixie, Emilee, Chloe, Cassidy, Haley, Harley, Molly, Jessy, and Gunner; four great-great grandchildren, Benjamin, Jensen, Ivy, and Casey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She joins her husband of 57 years, Stewart ‘Sonny’ Hill; her great granddaughter, Danielle; her brothers, Joey Desveaux, Joseph (Bernice) Perfect, Elias (Murial) Desveaux, and sisters, Mary (Lloyd) Delaney, Marie, Sadie (Art) Cambell, Martha (Ray) Penney, and Josephine.
Kay was a loving wife, a caring parent, and a shining light in the lives of everyone she knew; she will be dearly missed by all who had the fortune of knowing her.
Thank you to the staff of the Northside General, 2 West, for taking such wonderful care of Catherine during her stay there.

A visitation will be held at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175 on Wednesday, June 25, from 6-9 PM, and a funeral mass will be held the following day, Thursday, June 26, at 11 AM, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Westmount, Fr. Doug Murphy officiating, with a light lunch to follow at Point Edward Community Hall from 1-3 PM.
