Theresa (Tessie) Carmen Burns, 92

We the family of Theresa (Tessie) Burns, 92, of Glace Bay, are deeply saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Theresa was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth McLean of Glace Bay, N.S.

Theresa was a life-long member of the Army Navy, Glace Bay, and an enthusiastic dart player. Theresa was also an avid gambler, and was one of the last two Golden Girls, and at any time could be found sitting at the VLT’s with her close friend Juanita Steele; and we are absolute certain she is sitting in heaven playing lobster mania.

Theresa is survived by a son Lawrence (Emma Jean) Burns; daughters Darlene Lloyd, Debbie (Blair) Metcalfe, Ruth (Albert) Boutilier, Michelle (Kevin) Somerton, and Laura Lee (Jeff) Howley. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tammy (Kevin), Amanda (Jay), Christopher (Terri), Devin (Brianna), Breanna (Sam), and Stephen; great-grandchildren: Brittany, Kassidy, Riley, Katherine, Hunter, and Zade; Great-great grandchild Georga Mae Burns; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with her parents, Theresa was predeceased by a son John, son-in-law Jesse Lloyd, sisters Mary O’Connell and Margie Goulais, and a brother Kammie McLean.

Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.

A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
