Thomas Farrell Harper Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad, Thomas Farrell Harper, born 10 January 1931 and passed away 31 May 2025, at the age of 94.
Dad is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marg; and his children, Tommy, Nancy, Christine, Stephen, Gail, Jacqui, Sean, Brian, Wayne and Mark, as well as his brothers Reg, Jimmy, Carl and Ivan. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother, Robert; and sons, Reggie and Michael, and a grandson at birth.
Dad was a proud firefighter with the Halifax Fire Department for 35 years. Dad loved hockey and had a very successful hockey career playing major junior hockey with the New Westminster Royals. Unfortunately, an injury ended his future hockey career… his advice for everything was “Keep your stick on the ice.” He carried the Olympic torch for the opening of 1988 Winter Games, and he still worked out right up until the last few weeks before he passed away.
Thank you to our sister Jacqui for helping take care of Dad during his last few weeks in the hospital. Dad had a great life, so many stories to tell, and an awesome sense of humour. We will miss his great singing phone calls on our birthdays, and the jokes he would tell us. We are happy his suffering is over, and he is at rest. We will love you always.
Cremation has taken place, and the funeral mass will take place on 20 June 2025 at 12.15pm at St. Benedict Parish, 45 Radcliffe Dr, Halifax NS.
