With love and Cape Breton pride, we share the passing of Linda MacKinnon (Costigan) on June 7, 2025, at the age of 73. Linda welcomed anyone at her table with a cup of tea, a treat, quick wit, and true CB hospitality. Linda openly shared her loving honesty and heart. Whether working at the City Hospital, Sears Distribution, or the local corner stores, she brought humour, hard work, and a touch of sass everywhere she went.

At the centre of her life was her family. She adored her husband, children, and grandchildren – never missed a birthday and was always quick to share a story or brag about “her crowd”. Her love was fierce, her loyalty unwavering, and her presence unforgettable.

Linda is survived by her husband, Murdock MacKinnon; sons, David (Michelle), and Stephen (Vania); grandchildren, Rhett, Kylie, Heidi, and Ava; siblings, Martha, Joe, Lorraine, Marie, Nancy, Helen, Mary, Peggy, Glenn, and Michael.

She was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and Michael Costigan, and siblings, Brian, Brenda, Tom, Beatrice, Mary, and Sam.

She leaves behind many family and friends who will miss her straight talk, warm heart, and the stories she told like only a true Cape Bretoner could.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 13, from 1-2 pm with a funeral service at 2 pm in the chapel, Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating, a reception to follow.
