Bradley Scott Truckair
Glace Bay
It is with great sadness that we the family of Bradley Scott Truckair, age 54, regret to inform you of his sudden passing om May 30, 2025, at his home.
Born May 4, 1971, in Glace Bay, to the late Robert and Esther (Murphy) Truckair. Brad spent many of his younger years on the many fishing boats owned or operated by his father Bob. This instilled a love of the craft in him. Honing his skills as a lobster fisherman led him to terminate his education early and become the captain of his own boat. Each vessel had its own unique name, which expressed Brad’s special Sarcastic humor- the first vessel named ‘Tax Invader” and the second named ‘Rolling Stoned’.
Brad was involved in a motor vehicle accident in 1994 which caused a severe injury to his right arm eventually leading to it being amputated. This did not stop Bradley. He continued to go hunting and fishing with his many friends in Loch Lomond. He also continued fishing his boat up until a few years ago at which time he managed all the business aspects of it but handed over the captaining of it to his brother Dennis and nephew, Nicholas.
Brad could be as pleasant as ‘a kid in a candy store’ or as cantankerous as a ‘bull’, but we all loved him regardless of his mood. He had a few nicknames: Mad Dog Matters, Snaggle Puss, Bull and Jar Face. No matter which was used he would just laugh. Brad would tell great stories and had an infectious laugh; it came right from his toes. His sense of humor and storytelling kept many of friends staying in contact, especially Ronnie Turner, who constantly hung out with and checked in on Brad.
Bradley was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Esther Truckair, his paternal grandparents, Lambert and Elsie Truckair and maternal grandparents, Moses and Georgina Murphy.
Brad is survived by his brothers, Bobby (Tanyia) and Dennis both of Glace Bay; nephews, Logan (Jolene), Mason and Nicholas; niece Chelsey (Brad); one great niece, Nova and great nephews, Arminius, Tate and Sebastion; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, who loved him dearly and a huge circle of friends that provided great comfort and support to Brad.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10. 2025 in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay (902-849-4199).
