Joseph “Joey” Emmanuel Ogley, 72

It is with profound sadness, that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Joseph “Joey” Emmanuel Ogley, at the age of 72 years. Joey passed peacefully on May 28, 2025, in the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by his wife Joanne and his daughters. Joey was the son of the late Walter Ogley and Elizabeth Martin Ogley.

Joey was a man of simple pleasures. He loved tinkering around the yard, watching wrestling, and the Blue Jays. Joey was also known as the family cook. Everyone gathered in his home for meals, and he was especially famous for his Turkey dinner and extraordinary gravy. He was always whipping up something for his girls and their families. His home was always filled, just the way he liked it, remaining close and regularly connected to the people he loved the most. Joey was known for his kind and generous nature, qualities that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Joey is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years Joanne McNeil Ogley and his daughters Laura Lee (Leo), Angela (Derek/Eeker), and Jody (Toheeb); his beautiful grandchildren Brianna (Ryan), Madison, Braydon and Carter will miss him deeply, along with great grandchildren Peyton, Addilyn and Mya.

Raised in a large family, Joey is survived by brothers: David/Butch (Gladys), Pat (Joeyanne), Lloyd (Karen), Barry, Paul (Shelly), Bernie (Rhea), and Mecca; sisters: Kay (Morris), Beatsie, Hilda (Bruce), Karen and Bernadette; Joey will also be greatly missed by his in-laws Michael (Pam) McNeil, Lawrence Nearing, Pat Ogley, Gerrie Ogley, and Kay Ogley.

Aside from his parents, Joey was predeceased by brothers Walter, Tom, Max, Frank, Charles, Blair, Melvin, Billy and Raymond, sisters Norma, Lena, and Martha; grandson Thomas, sisters-in-law Debbie Nearing, Ausha, and Sharon Ogley; brothers-in-law Danny and Sammy.

The family extend a special thank you to the staff at Glace Bay Hospital, for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Joey and his family during his final days.

As per Joeys wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.

Visitation will take place on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 1-3 p.m., with a Celebration of Life will follow at 3 p.m., all in Tracey’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Family and friends welcomed.
