Eva Campbell Brooks Drysdale (Thompson) Obituary

Age 104, of Halifax, it is with much sadness that we announce our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Friday May 30, 2025. Born in Rochester, Vermont, November 28, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Eugene

Childs and Dorothy (Campbell) Brooks.

She was predeceased by her husband, Everett Drysdale, in 2001; her husband and father of her children, Harry Louis Thompson, in 1966; brother, Eugene C. Brooks; and sister, Virginia Hutton.

She is survived by daughters, Judith (Roman Gudzowsky) Thompson Lavers, Halifax, Janet Thompson, Halifax, and son, James Edward Thompson, Easthampton, MA. She is also survived by Grandchildren, Kathryn Lavers (Jamin Church), Kirsten Waterfield (Jody), Pamela Lively, Jessica Hebert (Jeff), Sarah Gauger (Brett); and 12 great-grandchildren, including Madison Lavers.

Mom, Dad and family moved from Easthampton, MA in 1960 to Bridgetown, NS. when Dad was transferred with United Elastic Limited as Managing Director. It was a big move, but Mom adapted quickly, finding herself immersed in the town life, making many lifelong friends. She often commented that it was the best decision they could have made. After the untimely death of Harry 1966, she moved back to Easthampton in 1967 to be closer to family. She then found herself drawn back to Nova Scotia, marrying Everett Drysdale and moving to Kentville, NS. After retirement, she and Ev moved to Halifax. They enjoyed winters in Florida and summers in the "Beautiful" Annapolis Valley and Halifax. Mom was a very talented seamstress, providing us with the most current fashions, as well as providing many family members with special afghans. While in Bridgetown she and Dad were members of St. James Anglican Church. She was also an active member of the Eden Golf Club, Bridgetown Curling Club, Ken-Wo Golf Club and Kentville Curling

Club.

As she has requested, there will be no visitation or funeral service. There will be a graveside service in Easthampton, MA at a future date. Donations in memory of Eva may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
