April 25, 1944 – May 26, 2025

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Marion Ellen Smith (Baker), age 81, on May 26, 2025

Predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Garry Smith, her mother Mary Margaret Murphy and father Donald Gordon Baker. Survived by her sons Garry, Kevin and daughter Trudy, son in-law Bruce, brother Bobby and sister Donna, grandchildren Austin, Jensen and Jeff.

Growing up we didn’t have much of material items, but we had so much more, we had a mom that was a strong role model who taught us our worth and the work ethic to succeed in life. She gave everything to us to ensure we did not go without and that made her happy. She is the heart of our family. She was strong willed, had so much strength and perseverance which gave her the ability to fight this awful disease.

Mom enjoyed sunny beach days and loved to travel to Florida to visit her sister and soak up the sun. She loved outings to the South Shore with her best friend Joan to enjoy beach days and other adventures. She also loved going to Costco multiple times a week! When she was in hospital, we would joke with her saying Costco called looking for you – that always put a smile on her face.

She loved her grandchildren Austin, Jensen (Shoebridge) and Jeff (Smith) with all her heart and was so proud of each of them.

Momma you fought the good fight, and Tracy awarded you with the nickname M&M – “Miracle Marion” and she loved that. You can rest in peace now pain free. You will always be in our hearts – Miss and Love you so very much xo.

A private burial will take place at a later date.

The family is grateful for the remarkable support of the palliative care paramedic team, as well as the palliative care staff at the VG. We would also like to thank Dr. Bruce Colwell and Katie Forand for all your support, kindness and compassion.
