My condolences to Carmel, Bernie, and to all the MacLeod family. When I was a pre-teen, Heidi was a much admired hockey player with Sydney Academy. I was impressed with him then and, like my younger brother Dave, was very favourably impressed with him as an adult. I saw him often during his Centennial Arena days. I majored in Economics, and during one of my visits to the Centennial office, he informed me that he had read one of the leading university texts on Economics-roughly a thousand large pages, most of which were not light reading. His comment: “I found it interesting. I think I’ll read it again.” He was indeed both a gentleman and a scholar. He will be missed.

Chad and family, my condolences on the passing of Heidi. I did not know him well but, I kinda knew him well. We met over the years on the ice. He was one of the toughest kids I ever met. After hockey we 'passed-by' and greeted each other and chatted as if we were the best of friends. I had immense respect for the nice guy I met every so often. A brief story: Playing Junior hockey, his Cape Breton team played the "Junior Bulldogs". It was a vicious series (CB won). At one point a riot broke out on the ice - Heidi at the centre. Antigonish fans threw galoshes and footwear at him on the ice. With a smirk Heidi skated around piercing as many as he could with the blade of his skate. He was also a good person.

He never missed a chance to make me laugh and to What's going on in Ashby? I'd tell him I was from westmount and he'd say..we'll close enough. Everyday. I looked forward to our daily banter.. He talked a lot about his wife and how he missed her. I hope she welcomed him with open arms. He was one of a kind and I will remember him fondly. As a care giver we try not to get attached but some people just find their way into our hearts. Heidi was one of them. Sending all my thoughts and prayers to you in this difficult time.

I was sad to hear of Heidi,s passing, knew he wasn’t well the past few years. I became a co-worker of Heidi,s when I went to work at Centennial arena and Sydney Forum and became a friend to he and Peggy . Condolences to his son Chad and family. RIP
