It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Darlene Elizabeth King, age 62, at home on May 18, 2025. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of James Leslie and the late Theresa (Treige) Brinston.

Darlene was employed in the cook house at Hinchey’s Ride and Amusement Park, Sydney, and was affectionally known as the French Fry Lady or Ma; Darlene also enjoyed going to bingo with her dad.

Along with her father, James; Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Michael King, daughter, Krystal (Shane) and son, Michael; sister Theresa Burke (Bob White); brother Leslie; her father and mother-in-law Edward and Gladys King; sister-in-law, Lynn King; as well numerous nieces and nephews and her faithful sidekick, Lucy.

Darlene was predeceased by her mother Theresa, and a brother Joseph.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darlene’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 4,2025, at 11 a.m. in T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. (902)849-4199.
