Philip Duane Watkins, 66

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Philip Duane Watkins of Glace Bay on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Taigh Na Mara Guest Home. He was the son of the late Albert (Mick) Watkins and Mary Bonner.

Duane was a carpenter, painter, and handyman. He was always telling stories and jokes to make someone laugh. Da was surrounded by his family, nephews Chris and Brent made sure to make him smile one last time and thank you for that. His sister Brenda was there for him at the end as he left this world to be with God, and his mom and dad are there waiting on the other side to greet Duane.

He is survived by his daughter Brenda Lynn Watkins (Bea); four brothers: Paul Watkins, Mickey (Janice) Watkins, Roddie Watkins, and Francis Glenn Watkins; two sisters: Brenda (Kevin) MacDonald and Lynn (David) Dearing; as well as two grandchildren: Cameron Watkins and Scarlett West-Fiset. Duane is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Along side his parents, Duane was predeceased by brothers Butch (Carol), Ricky and Harold.

Special thank you to the nurses, doctors, and staff in Taigh Na Mara Nursing Home for the love, compassion, and care given to Duane during his time with you, it was and will always be greatly appreciated.

As per his wishes, a private graveside burial will take place.
