1942 – 2025

Lexina Gale Hubley (Reid), age 82, of Hubley, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Palliative Care Unit 7A – Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS.

Born in Springhill, NS, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Julia Janette Reid (Adams).

Lexina graduated in 1960 from the Nova Scotia Trades School with a diploma in Stenography. While attending school, she worked part-time at the Dominion Store in Halifax’s North End. Following graduation, she served for many years with the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works and the Department of Highways. She later worked in the advertising department at Sears until her retirement.

Lexina loved tending to her flower beds and cherished her summers at the family cottage in Lower Economy, NS. She found joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her loyal furry friend, Jack. An avid quilter and needlepoint enthusiast, Lexina was also deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of Topaz Rebekah Lodge #125 until its closure in 2024, a member of the IOOF Building and Joint Stock Association of Halifax, and a dedicated volunteer at Victoria General Hospital.

Lexina is survived by her loving husband, Rupert Symons Hubley Jr.; sons, Kevin Barry Hubley (Cathy)and Scott Douglas Hubley (Christina) daughter, Marlene Wanda Hubley (Darryl Nicholas); sister, Sharon Marie Wood; grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Soley (Matthew Thompson), Meagan Anne Soley, Catherine Anne Werrun (Loran), Taylor Nicole Hubley, and Zoe Joanna Hubley; and great-grandchildren, Norah Marlise Thompson, Bennett Rupert Thompson, Lennon Audrey Werrun, Hazel Rae Thompson, Ginnie (Ginger) Soley.

She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Karen Janette Farnell; brothers, James Reid, and Murray Reid in infancy; father-in-law, Rupert Symons Hubley Sr.; mother-in-law, Idella Pauline Hubley; sister-in-law, Sandra Jean Smith; and nephew, David Hubley.

A Celebration of Life service and interment will be held at a later date in William Black Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Nova Scotia Division), the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Laura Wade, Emergency Medicine Physician, Dr. Krueger-Naug and the staff of Palliative Care 7A at Victoria General Hospital, and to all family and friends for their support during this time.
