Beverly Ann Slaunwhite Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Beverly Ann Slaunwhite (Little) at the Halifax Infirmary on April 27, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 26, 1941, Mom turned 84 the day before her passing. Mom was born and raised, and lived her entire life in the beautiful village of Terence Bay, NS. She, along with her late husband of 64 years, Wally, were blessed with three children, daughter Cindy, and sons Derrick & Sheldon.

For the most part, Mom was a full time stay-at-home mom. She worked hard raising us kids, except for a brief period when she was employed at Canada Packers & Moir’s Chocolates. Later in life, she had the pleasure of babysitting some of her grandchildren in their early years which she dearly cherished.

Mom & Dad had a tremendous love for one another and truly enjoyed each other’s company. After her child rearing years Mom began accompanying Dad on his outings where she developed a passion for hunting & fishing herself, and looked forward to it every year until their health prevented them from doing so.

She also enjoyed going to weekly bingos and card games with her friends and family when she was able to. Mom always loved knitting for a pass time. She continuously made sure we all had an adequate supply of dish cloths. So it’s not surprising that when she was admitted to the hospital and nursing home, she continued to knit dish cloths and mittens for all the staff and patients/residents who wanted any. She quickly became known throughout the facilities as the, “Sweet little knitting lady”.

“Mom, we love you and miss you dearly, we will forever cherish your memory.”

“Heaven has gained another angel.”

Beverly is survived by daughter, Cindy (Ola) Legere; son, Sheldon (Ann) Slaunwhite; daughter in law, Bonnie Slaunwhite; 6 Grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Legere, Adam (Amanda) Legere, Natasha (Adam) Oickle, Mathew Slaunwhite, Evan Slaunwhite & Colton Slaunwhite; 4 Great Grandchildren, Autumn & Archer Legere, Wesley & Lilia Oickle; sister, Vera (Donnie) Mitchell; sister in laws, Julia, Glenna, Shirley; brother in laws, Wilbert (Joyce) Slaunwhite, Granville (Donna) Slaunwhite, Kenneth Cole, and several Nieces & Nephews.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Wallace Slaunwhite; son, Derrick W. Slaunwhite; biological parents, Violet & Herbert Little; parents, Geraldine Slaunwhite & Morton Jollimore; and aunt/sister, Ada Jollimore.

We would like to thank “Closing the Gap” staff (Mary & Terri) as well as all the Doctors, Nurses & Support Staff who have cared for Mom the past couple of years from the Halifax Infirmary (ER, 8th Floor), 9 Lane, and most recently, Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home, where she received extraordinary care. Thank you all for your relentless attention, care and compassion for our dear mother. We are forever grateful for everything you have done!

A very special thank you to Troy Slaunwhite, Lisa Humphrey & Cindy Slaunwhite for being there for mom whenever she/we needed you. You are greatly appreciated!
