Gus David Daix, 68

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, son and grandfather Gus David Daix on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the age of 68. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Frank and Faye (Demeyere) Daix.

Raised in New Waterford, Gus grew up in the garage with his brothers and their father who was always there to guide them. In his teenage years, he followed his sister to the Bay where he met the love of his life Carmen.

Gus was a body-man and painter for many years and took immense pride in his accomplishments. He restored many vehicles that were car-show quality and was very proud of his work, he was a perfectionist. Gus grew to have many friends and acquaintances over the years, mostly due to his love of vehicles. He could put his hands to any job, if something were too difficult, he would say “just give me a minute, I’ll figure it out,’ and he always did.

He was a die hard Mopar man and a dedicated Boston Bruin fan, Gus was a kind and helpful man who would make himself available whatever the need.

Gus will be greatly missed by his wife and love of his life Carmen of 46 years; his children Jason (Deanna), Eugenia and Karlene (Clarence). He will be missed by brothers Frank (Dorothy) Daix and Daniel (Margie) Daix; sisters Marcella (Mike) Bennett and Velvet Daix. Gus will also be missed by his seven wonderful grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Gus also leaves behind his longtime friend Bob Campbell whom he worked with when he started his career in Autobody and who he had great respect for. also, his friend John F (one of his Mopar buddies) and Doug Slade who was always there for him, and last but not least Bernie and the boys who he spent many a Friday Night swapping stories or tales.

Along with his parents, Gus was predeceased by his sisters Mary and Emily.

Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, Glace Bay.

As per his request, there will be no visitation or service.
