Donna Theresa (Turner) MacGillivray, 85

September 1939-May 2025

We are saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother Donna (Turner) MacGillivray a resident of Harbourstone Enhanced Care.

Donna was born in Glace Bay and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Esther (MacDonald) Turner.

Donna graduated from business college in 1958 and started her career with Unemployment Insurance. In the mid 60’s she was employed with Blue Cross Insurance in Halifax. Donna would later come back to her hometown of Glace Bay and furthered her career in St. Joseph’s Hospital as Nursing Secretary. She was a member of St. Anne’s Parish her entire life. Donna later married and adopted two children.

Donna is survived by sons Blair (Lorrie) and Shane (Amanda); six grandchildren Mason, Rayne, Damon, Scarlet, River, and Jadis; brother Carl (Betty) Turner, Glace Bay; sisters: Roberta (Ottawa), Myrna (Glace Bay), Joan (Cambridge), and Linda (James) MacDonald (Dartmouth).

Along with her parents, Donna is predeceased by her husband Joseph, twin sister Delores; brothers Samuel and David; brothers-in-law George Timko, Fred Woodford, Mick Proctor and sister-in-law Peggy.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 11-1 p.m., in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Anne’s Church on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 2 p.m., with Fr. MacLeen presiding.
