It is with sadness that we share the passing of Don Boudreau. Don was born October 17, 1940, in Mattie Settlement, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia.

While attending school in Harve Boucher, he met the love of his life, Kay (Levangie) and they have been married for 61 years. Don enjoyed sports, particularly hockey, and played for local teams as well as the Antigonish Junior Bulldogs. In his youth he also played baseball, softball and enjoyed bowling and fishing.

After high school Don joined the Halifax Police Department in 1962. For over 34 years he held progressive supervisory and management positions and prior to retirement, he was appointed Chief of Police of the Halifax Police Department. Don loved his profession and the people he worked with over the years, many becoming life-long friends.

Don is survived by his wife, Kay, his daughter Joanne and son Doug (Michael Chisholm).

The son of Benjamin and Mary Boudreau (MacDonald), he is survived by sisters, Carmel Forrestall (Robert), Twila Venedam (Joseph), and brother Blaise Boudreau (Theresa). He was predeceased by brother Gerald Boudreau, and sisters Joyce Hearn, Gloria Forrestall and Sharon Beaton.

Don passed away after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, medical professionals and care givers who treated him with such compassion and care. Don felt blessed to have so many close friends who were there for him in good times and bad.

Don was active in several community and financial organizations, often serving as Chair of the Board of Directors. Some of the organizations he served on for over 20 years.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71, McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax, NS on Thursday, May 8th between 5 and 7 pm. A funeral service will take place at Saint Benedict’s Parish, 45 Radcliffe Drive, Halifax, NS on Friday, May 9th at 12:15pm.
