Norman James MacDonald Obituary

With deepest regrets and sorrow in our hearts we announce the passing of Norman James MacDonald, 70. He lost his long, hard, battle to lung cancer: He put up a fierce fight to stay with his beloved family.

He was a protector and a strong-minded man. Everyone that knew him knew he loved fishing on land or ice and playing a game of darts. He enjoyed adventures with his buddies but always made sure to bring his best friend and love of his life, his wife.

Norm was quite the character and a prankster; you never knew what to expect from him. He was also a loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. If you were lucky enough to get through his thick demeanor, then you had a friend for life.

He was predeceased by his parents, Naomi and Ivan, stepfather, Clarence, and sister, Gilda.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gail; his saucy face, bratty kid, Dawn; his pride and joy, his granddaughter, Sadie; his brothers, Wayne, Stewart, and Ross; and sister, Jeanette; also his other relatives who he loved dearly.

Special thanks to Dr. McKeough and Louise, the palliative care team, Julia, the VON, EHS, and Northside Homemakers, for being there during his final days.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. As per Norman’s wishes, there will be no service.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
