Victor Arthur Mahar Obituary

“Big Vic” was born August 7, 1935 the son of Gerald and Alice Mahar.

Vic was a family man, married for 67 years to Rosie, who was always at his side through thick & thin. Vic was proud of all of his children, and told others often, of their achievements.

Victor had a long career with Air Canada, and was with the airline from its beginnings as Trans-Canada Air Lines. He made lots of great friends among his work colleagues and would always have a story to tell about the mischief they got into!

Vic was a lifelong sports fan and active participant. He was very proud to inform you of his athletic “M” from St Mary’s University for football. It was a toss up as to which he was more passionate about, football or tennis! He was a lifelong member at the Waegwoltic Club, playing tennis until he was 85.

He drove in his beloved Caddy, to Largo Florida for 23 winters, where he and Rosie received lots of visitors and enjoyed all the nature and beach life Florida had to offer.

Music was a big part of his life. The entire family has always been surrounded by pianos and Vic was great on the 88s. He could always be persuaded to play a few tunes at any opportunity, and was always the life of the party, nicknamed Mr Fun!

He is survived by Rose Marie Comeau Mahar, his son Bill (Jennifer Bell), his daughters Mary Lou, Ann Marie (David ) Thompson and Elizabeth (Darryl) Hebert; his grandchildren Robin and Erin Mahar, Liam and Duncan Thompson, Joshua and Victoria Hebert; and his brothers Gerald and Gordon Mahar.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sisters Mary and Sister Sally Mahar RSCJ.
