PAUL JOSEPH SHORTALL - 64, Folly Lake, NS

We are broken hearted to announce the passing of a beloved son, brother, and uncle. Paul passed unexpectedly at home on Friday, April 18, 2025.

Paul is survived by his mother, Marjorie (Roy) Parratt; sisters, Linda (Kevin) Whalen, Roseanne (Ken) Anderson and Judi (Willy) Wensel; six nieces and three nephews; three great nieces and one great nephew.

Paul was predeceased by his father, Paul Shortall.

Paul was the only son, born in St. John's, Newfoundland. He moved, with his family at an early age, to Halifax. He generously took care of our father for many years until Dad passed away in 2009. A few years later, he built a cottage in Folly Lake which he made his permanent home in 2019.

He was a self-taught jack of all trades; and worked in the construction industry for most of his life. He loved to watch documentaries. He was a collector of many things. He kept himself busy, constantly tinkering and fixing items. He was also a great gardener.

Paul was a cancer survivor. But he struggled with other health issues in later life.

He was an active member in the Maritime Van Council and hosted many Thanksgiving events at his cottage in Folly Lake prior to covid.

Paul was always seen with his dog, Hero, at his side.

Paul always ended his phone conversations and visits with a “love you guys". He will forever be remembered, loved, and missed dearly by his family. He leaves behind unforgettable memories. He will live on in our hearts forevermore.
