Hugh ‘Roger’ MacLeod, 81
Sand Lake Rd., N.S.
It is with deep sadness that we the family of Hugh ‘Roger’ MacLeod, 81, of Sand Lake Rd., announce his sudden passing at home, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Archie and Margaret MacLeod.
At an early age Roger began working at Highland Motors to support his mother when his father passed away because of a mining accident. He worked towards his Mechanic License, finishing his career with Devco as a mechanic. He was a founding member of the Cape Breton Antique and Custom Car Club and enjoyed participating in all the events. Roger enjoyed any outing that involved Antique Cars, good conversations, food, a few sweets, and a good cup of tea made on a Coleman Stove. There was not a cookie he did not like!
If you were to look up the definition of a ‘True Gentleman’ there would likely be a picture of Roger (Dad) Poppy. He always had a kind word and took the time to help anyone who needed it. But most of all, he loved his family, enjoying his time spent with Dot, Jody, Doug, Olivia, and Molly (Fur Baby). He was one of a kind and will be forever missed and forever loved.
Roger is survived by his wife Dorothy (Greene) of 58 years; a daughter Jody (Doug) McKenzie and one granddaughter Olivia who was his pride and joy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a Celebration of Life to follow at 1 p.m., with Rev. Bob Biggar presiding, all in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. Interment will be held in Black Brook Cemetery at a later date.
Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Tom McNeil Cancer Patient Care Fund in Care of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
Our family would like to express our sincere thank you to all our family and friends for their support during this difficult time.
He was loved by many and will be missed by all!
