Obituary of Holly Josephine Anderson
Please share a memory of Holly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
"In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
Age 70, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. Born to Ken and Margaret Blackburn (Brackett), and she is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Doug Anderson, who remained by her side until the end.
Holly grew up at 5137 Morris Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she attended Saint Mary’s Girls School and St. Patrick’s High School. In her early years, she worked in both retail and healthcare before settling in Timberlea to raise her family. There, she became a beloved in-home daycare provider for the families of Glengarry Estates, earning the affectionate title of the unofficial neighborhood watch. Over the years, Holly made a lasting, positive impact on the lives of many children, nurturing their growth and happiness until her retirement.
Her greatest joy came from her family, her daughter, Carrie (Richard) Adshead; her son, Robert (Felicia) Anderson; and her four beautiful grandchildren: Emily, Anderson, Scarlett, and Isabelle. She cherished her siblings, including brothers Michael, Patrick, Joseph; and sisters Colleen Hall, Joan Westhaver, and Margaret (Peggy) Howell.
Holly was predeceased by her infant son at birth, both parents, Ken and Pearl, and her brothers David and Tommy.
She loved making family gatherings special with her legendary turkey dinners and rabbit pie, bringing warmth and love to every occasion. Her enthusiasm for card nights, bingos, and dinner outings created an atmosphere of joy, where her infectious smile and humor brought everyone together.
We are forever grateful to Holly, our family pillar and the archetype of motherhood and love. Her unwavering support and the countless sacrifices she made allowed us to grow into the best versions of ourselves. She taught us the values of patience, empathy, and kindness, always encouraging us to achieve our goals. Thank you, Mom, for being our guiding light; your absence will be deeply felt, and we will miss you forever.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Halifax Infirmary Emergency Room, the Level 3 IMCU, and the nurses on 8.3. A very special thank you goes to our family doctor, Dr. Robert Scovil, at the Timberlea Medical Center, for his compassionate care and support.
