Obituary of Jennifer Gail Michaud
Please share a memory of Jennifer to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Jennifer Gail (Ward) Michaud of Balls Creek, Nova Scotia, at the age of 53 on the second of April 2025, after a long battle against ovarian cancer.
Born in Kentville, August 31, 1971, she was the daughter of Gary and Laraine Ward of Greenwood.
She attended West Kings District High School, and that is where she met her high school sweetheart, Allan Michaud, and they later married on August 5, 1992. Together they lived and worked in Toronto, Charlottetown, Halifax, Calgary, and Hamilton before returning to NS in 2019.
In addition to her avid love of sewing, crafting, cooking and baking, decorating interior and exterior, she also designed the home that she and Allan were later to build together in Balls Creek.
Originally starting her career in retail management, it was during her time working as a department manager for IKEA that she decided to pursue her interest in Human Resources, culminating in earning her Human Resource Management Certificate from the University of Calgary in 2014.
Retiring in 2019, she moved to Balls Creek in Cape Breton so that Allan could take a position as a machining instructor at the Canadian Coast Guard College.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Allen; brother, Daniel Scott Ward, Lower Sackville; sister, Andrea Nadine Ward, Edmonton; her cousins, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her aunt, Mary Helen Joan Reeves-Papazian.
A special thanks to the Cape Breton and Halifax Cancer Centres, Teal to Heal, Cape Breton Palliative Care, and the VON for all of their compassionate care.
Thanks to the Canadian Coast Guard and the CCGC who have been an incredible support for Jennifer’s cancer battle. Bravo zulu to all.
A memorial will be held at a later date in Greenwood Nova Scotia.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in her name can do so with Teal to Heal or the charitable organization of their choice.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175.
